Théâtre de la Vieille Grille

Going into “The” city was a big deal when I was growing up. The destination of choice was the Village and little jazz clubs that frequented that part of New York City. Imagine finding only a few blocks from the apartment a theatre that replicates that experience. It is called the Théâtre de la Vieille Grille located at 1, rue du Puits de l’Ermite, 75005 (metro Place Monge).

The first show that we went to was a tribute to Kiki of Montparnasse with Francoise Taillandier. For all of you who have my book, you will know all about the Queen of Montparnasse. It was a wonderful “spectacle” of songs and dialogue.

Our next show was a homage to Sammy Davis Jr. What a fun evening of nostalgic songs and a lively performance that included tap dancing by Philou. The singer was Chris Caldi.

This little theatre offers a broad spectrum of shows and diversity of musical genres. They have a small wine bar and after the shows it is typical to have the opportunity to mingle with the performers.

For reservations call 01 47 07 22 11.

See you at the show!
