L’Art dans les bois

A Pan Within

Today while walking in the Bois de Vincennes, I came across this interesting sculpture by Stéphane Beau. The carving has been done in the bark of a tree and when you approach it there is a small plaque with the artist’s email address. The sculpture is called “A Pan Within”.

The email address for the artist on the plaque is apanwithin@gmail.com. If you wish to view a few more sculptures in nature by Stéphane you can go to this website: http://www.artmajeur.com/en/artist/stephanebeau/collection/a-pan-within/1456462/artwork/a-pan-within-1/6441007

Bois de Vincennes contains the Château de Vincennes which is a former residence of the Kings of France. The park contains four lakes, an arboretum, a floral garden, a zoo, a horse-racing track and it welcomes bicyclists, dog walkers and all those who enjoy spending time in nature. The origins go all the way back to when Paris was an ancient Roman town. The forest was called Vilcena. In 1150 King Louis VII build a hunting lodge on what is now the site of the château.

Thank you to Stéphane for the simple pleasure of coming across this interesting treasure while strolling through the beautiful Bois de Vincennes.
