Grand Palais

The Grand Palais in Paris has once again provided a bigger than life exhibit, “Hommage à Helmut Newton”. The exhibit opened on the 24th of March and it will continue until the 17th of June.

Helmut Newton is oft-noted for his contributions to the French Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Playboy magazins. He projects through photos his fantasy with the female body while exploring the themes of fashion, money, power, sex and luxury. The freedom and exploration of the seventies and eighties, as shown through Newton’s images, contrasts dramatically with the more conservative atmosphere currently found in both France and the U.S. (Please go and tell me if you don’t agree!)

I consider it another don’t miss exhibit.

The Galeries nationales du Grand Palais is located at 3, avenue de Général-Eisenhower 75008 and the telephone number is 01 44 13 17 17. The mètro stops are Franklin D. Roosevelt and Champs-Elysées Clemenceau via lignes 1, 9 and 13.
